Below are guides for registering your device to the wifi.
NB* First year students only. When you connect to Eduroam you will have connection with restricted capacity until the end of March
2023of the current year and then disconnected if you do not opt in.
If you do opt in, you will have full speed and access to university services.
RegisterMe! Android
Register your device by completing the following steps:
- Connect to the Wi-Fi by selecting the RegisterMe! Wi-Fi option from the wireless network menu.
- Your default browser will automatically open:
- If not, open your browser and enter the following web address: https://registerme.sun.ac.za/selfreg.php
- When getting an error message “Unauthorised”.
- Select browser menu
- Select “Use Without Internet”Network as is”
- You will be prompted to login with your SU details.
- Username is your email address (student number or username@sun.ac.za)
- Password is your student password.
- Click on Sign In.
- You will now be logged into the self-registration website. Scroll to the bottom of the page when you done with reading the Terms and Conditions.
- Check the box.
- Select Confirm (NB* You can access Eduroam for free with limited speed but will be disconnected end of March only if you do not confirm.)
- If the payment option is required (the fee will be deducted from your student account):
- Check the box.
- Select Pay.
When all relevant information is filled in, select Register Me!
RegisterMe!
iOS DevicesMacOSX
To register an Apple mobile MacOSX device to access our Wi-Fi: Eduroam , complete the following steps:
The self-registration process is only for users requiring network access to the Stellenbosch University network via any of the University Residences and Eduroam.
Register your device by completing or LAN, complete the following steps:Connect to the RegisterMe! wireless network.
- Connect to the Wi-Fi by selecting the RegisterMe! Wi-Fi option from the wireless network menu if you want to register the LAN plug in the ethernet cable.
- Your default browser will automatically open Safari
- When getting an error message “Unauthorised”.
- Select Cancel.
- Select “Use Without Internet”
- Continue by entering the web address in your browser.
- Open your browser and enter the following web address: https://registerme.sun.ac.za
- You will be prompted to login with your SU account details.
- Username is your email address (student number or username@sun.ac.za)
- Password is your password.
- Click on Log In.
- You will now be logged into the self-registration website. Scroll to the bottom of the page when you done with reading the Terms and Conditions.
- Tick the
box- checkbox.
- Select Confirm.
- If the payment option is required (the fee will be deducted from your

Check - Tick the
box- checkbox.
- Select Pay
When all relevant information is filled in, select Register Me!

MacOSXiOS Devices
To register an Apple MacOSX mobile device to access our Wi-Fi: Eduroam, complete the following steps:

RegisterMe! Windows device Wifi
To register a windows device to access our Wi-Fi: Eduroam, complete the following steps:
Register your windows laptop device
- Username is your US number
- Password is your password
- Click on Sign In
- Choose your preferred language.
- Select Confirm (NB* You can access Eduroam for free with limited speed but will be disconnected end of March only if you do not confirm.)
- Check the box
- Select Pay
Register Me
!
NB* LAN is a paid service, only wifi is free but for a limited registration period and limited speed.
NB** this is only for residence registrations. Lab and office Ethernet connection request must be logged on servicedesk.sun.ac.za. You can only be registered to one LAN location. If roaming is required, please log a request on servicedesk.sun.ac.za
To register a Windows device to our cabled network complete the following steps:
Register your Windows laptop device to cabled network (LAN)
- Username is your US number
- Password is your password
- Click on Sign In
- Choose your preferred language.
- Check the box
- Select Confirm
- Check the box
- Select Pay
- Select the relevant information that applies to the device you are registering and your location.
- Device Type: Laptop Windows/ Desktop Windows
- Serial number: Select Click here if your device does not have a serial number
- Enter the serial number and add any letter at the back of the serial number
- Cell phone number: Enter your cell phone number
- Location: The location where you at while registering your device
- Room: The room where you at while registering your device
- Hostname: Hostname must be a small caps letter ‘s’ before your student number: s1234567
- If the hostname already exists, please add a letter to the end of your student number eg. s123456w for Wi-Fi and s123456l for LAN
- If you have more than 2 Wi-Fi devices registered, please use other random letters after your student number
