Things to know before you

connecting to our

connect to the Wi-Fi or LAN

    • Eduroam is our default Wi-Fi

  • You do not need to register please connect to Eduroam WIFI and login with full credentials.
  • Follow the steps below for your specific device.

Complete the following steps:

  1. Click Eduroam on your Wi-Fi menu and the following should appear
  2. Enter or select the following settings to connect:
    1. Select EAP method: PEAP
    2. Select Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2
    3. Set CA certificate: Do not validate
    4. Enter your Identity: Full university email e.g username@sun.ac.zaImage Removed
      1. Image RemovedMake sure no spaces are left after you have entered it and do not auto fill
      2. Anonymous identity: Leave it blank
      3. Enter your Password: Enter your university password
      4. Click connect
      5. You will now be connected to Wi-Fi: Eduroam

Complete the following steps: 

  1. Select Eduroam from wifi menu
  2. Under username enter your Identity: Full university email e.g username@sun.ac.zaImage Removed
  3. Enter your university password
  4. Click connect

Complete the following steps:

On iPhone or iPad:

  1. Go to Eduroam wifi and press the blue "i"
  2. Forget the network.
  3. When it shows up, click blue "i" again
  4. Deselect private address
  5. Turn off auto join
  6. Join network
  7. Enter full university email and password
  8. Trust certificate

On Macbook

NB* Make sure your device has the latest software update

    • network
    • If you previously used Secure or Maties Wi-Fi please move over to Eduroam
      • How to move to Eduroam:
        • "Forget" the Secure Wi-Fi network
        • Switch your Wi-Fi off
        • Switch your Wi-Fi on again
        • Connect to Eduroam with your university email address and password


    • RegisterMe!:
      • Is now only neccassary for staff and students to connect to RegisterMe! if you have NEVER connected to the university Wi-Fi network before. Once you've completed all the steps you will automatically be redirected to the Eduroam Wi-Fi
      • And/or necessary for students only when you need access to a wired connection/LAN in your hostel room
      • Make sure your password has not expired,  If the password had expired, please update password and select "forgot password
      • Please make use of our FAQ section if you experience issues.


  • Select Eduroam from the network menu
  • enter your Identity: Full university email e.g username@sun.ac.zaImage Removed
  • Enter your university password
  • You will then be prompted to make changes for your Macbook, enter your device password.
  • You will then be connected to Eduroam
