Step by step instructions on how to install Office 365.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Log in to http://portal.office.com with your university credentials
    1. Type username@sun.ac.za
    2. Enter your password
    3. Approve to Authenticate the sign in.
  2. Online Office Webpage will now open, Select Apps on the Left side.


  3. Select Install apps in the right-hand corner and click on Microsoft 365 apps.

  4. Select Install Office.


  5. Office Setup file will now download to your Downloads. Open Downloads Folder and run the Office Setup file to start Office Installation.


  6. Select Yes to proceed with installation.


  7. Office will now install, once completed select Close to finish installation.


  8. Now open the Word Application and select Sign in or create account.


  9. Now sign in with your Sun Email Address and Password.



  10. Approve the Authentication to complete the sign in.


  11. Select Yes / No to proceed.


  12. Your Office License is now Activated.
